Ten of the twelve cuts on 'The Residents' carry the signature of Ver-dikt and Andy Dav: eight originals plus their remixes of 'Reflection' (Erich LH and Noise Generation) and 'Fall Into' (Tryger). And the duo aren't just visiting: back in 2025 they had already released the album 'In the Dark' on SkyTop, a title they recycle here for a 120 bpm cut in D minor.
The album name is no accident either. The label's weekly show is literally called SkyTop Residency —now past episode 430— and it's hosted by Alexey Sonar, co-owner of SkyTop and Intricate Records. Having the boss inside the record, signing 'Connection' with DJ Ruby while the imprint celebrates its ninth year, turns the album into a statement: this is the house band.
Of that pairing, DJ Ruby is the name with the most mileage: the Maltese DJ has spent over three decades behind the decks, held a ten-year Renaissance residency in Malta through the 2000s and has been fully devoted to underground progressive house since 2018. His 'Connection', at 124 bpm in G major, sets the record's tempo ceiling alongside 'Want You to Dance'.
The rest of the cast completes the household map:
- Four Days and Levitone sign 'Discothèque', progressive at 123 bpm in D major, the other guest cut that arrives untouched by the duo.
- Erich LH and Noise Generation provide the raw material for 'Reflection', which Ver-dikt and Andy Dav rework at 122 bpm in C major.
- Tryger hands 'Fall Into' over to the duo's treatment, organic house at 122 bpm in G minor.
The final balance is telling: organic house on eight of the twelve cuts, tempos held between 120 and 124, and the duo's own arc running from the shortest track —'It's All Right', 5:01, in A-flat minor— to the longest, 'She Know That' at 7:53. A roster record: the residents set the language, the guests bring the accent.
