Eight of this compilation's twelve keys are major, and for a record that opens on techno turf, that alone sets the mood: the darkness here is brighter than the genre usually allows itself. STJ's 'Blop' opens in Db major, and the same key returns on Błażej Moniuszko's 'Khaalun', as if the record circled back to its home colour in the middle of the hypnotic stretch. In between, the raw block —'Relay' in Gb minor, 'One to Go' in D major, 'Organic Lake Virophage' in F minor— keeps trading shadow for light without ever fully settling into gloom.
'Dystoper', the luminous anomaly
koTt.'s cut is the record in miniature: the longest (7:21), the fastest (142 BPM), yet tagged melodic house & techno and written in F major. That contradiction —peak-time velocity with anthem tonality— is the emotional summit of the journey. From there everything descends: 'In the Abyss' and 'Nocturne' hover around 124, de Brus' 'Manila' drops to 122 in plain C major, sunrise-flavoured organic house, and 'Night Cruise' closes in F minor at 123, the same key as 'Organic Lake Virophage': the record signs off with the colour that darkened its midpoint, now recast as deep house.
Context explains the variety: Kończę Tracki is no conventional label but the Polish producer community run by Michał Gutkowski, a producer active since 2015 whose students have finished over 1,300 tracks in five years. '5 Lat' —released as an anniversary compilation— gathers twelve different names, one per cut, which may be why the tonal landscape is so varied: twelve sensibilities crossing from raw techno to deep house, none echoing another's voice. An emotional map running from major-key euphoria down to minor-key melancholy that, along the way, portrays an entire talent pool.
