Half the titles on this volume look toward the temple — 'Shanti', 'Shiva Shambhu', 'Dwarka', 'Sonic Medicine' — while the other half point at the laboratory: 'Man or Machine', 'Robot Activation', 'Authentic Intelligence', 'Quantum Realm'. That tension between mantra and circuitry is no sequencing accident: it is the most faithful portrait of the house signing all of it.
A label that preaches what it signs
Digital Om has operated out of India and Nepal since 2006, describing itself as a unifying force for the psychedelic community built around oneness, love and spirituality; beyond the catalogue it runs its own parties and festivals, Mountain Madness among them. Universal Frequencies is its long-running compilation series — the label's Bandcamp stacks volume after volume of reissued catalogue picks — and this 21st instalment works like an internal census: all 28 slots carry the house signature.
The census says concrete things. Neo Shaman is the most repeated name, with three originals ('Sandy', 'Freedom Dancers', 'Intangible') spread across the first stretch; Ital, Chronosphere, West Galaxy and Nahalun each appear twice. The rhythmic core lives between 140 and 148 BPM — fourteen cuts — though the sheet also lists readings from 70 to 127 that in some cases (the 72s, the 70) smell like half-time notation of the same full-on pulse. And the most telling figure: 25 of the 28 tracks sit in a major key. Luminous psytrance rather than dark — exactly what the label's own discourse promises.
There is a single remix in the whole batch, the 'Alternate Side Remix' of 'Dream Rise' by Afterlif3 and Cosmic Wolf, which also happens to be the longest cut (9:08); everything else is original material, from 'Sandy' and its 148 BPM at the opening to 'Robot Activation' at the close. A label able to fill 28 slots from its own roster without repeating the formula end to end isn't compiling: it's taking attendance.
