Three cuts on this compilation share 140 BPM and E major: 'Present Experience' by Sinegoma and Mementomor, 'Circus Sideshow' by Emok and Silent Sphere, and 'Flowstate' by Zen Mechanics with Protonica. That is nearly twenty-five minutes of chainable material with no pitch riding and no harmonic wrestling, and that detail defines what 'Set: 43' really is: less a showcase, more a DJ toolbox.
From warm-up to peak
The assault block runs from 134 to 143 BPM and takes up eleven of the eighteen cuts. To open a floor, 'Just Enough' by Electrypnose and Yestermorrow at 134 and 'Optimist Civilization' at 136 do the job, both sitting in neighbouring flat keys. For peak time, 'Other Perspective' by X-NoiZe and Rexalted sets the ceiling at 143, with 'Roots' by Squid and Artmis one step below. And the longest cut on the record, the 11:23 of Rising Dust's remix of 'Stranger Things', leaves plenty of room to build a patient transition at 138.
The other half of the record is the less obvious one, and the most useful outside peak hours:
- 'W' in Klipsun's 2025 remix for Perfect Stranger and 'Atoms' by Gorovich, both at 87 BPM, work as session openers or final landings.
- 'Aura Divina' by Giorgia Angiuli and Tao Andra at 92 and Modus' take on Captain Hook's 'Desert Adventure' at 105 cover the record's downtempo lane.
- 'Acid Trip Advisor' in Talpa's hands is the only minor key across all eighteen cuts: D minor at 110 BPM, the exact colour shift before climbing again.
That a single catalogue covers that whole arc is no surprise coming from Iboga: the Danish label Emok and Banel have run since the mid-nineties is a reference point for global progressive trance, and the 'Set' series is built exactly this way, hand-picking cuts from the label's own vaults. Emok, in fact, appears twice here: co-signing 'Circus Sideshow' with Silent Sphere and remixing Victor Ruiz alongside Phaxe on the closer. Few label bosses dig this deep into their own stock.
