'Wut' was Girl Unit's breakout single on Night Slugs back in 2010 — hailed as single of the year before it even dropped — all monumental claps and euphoric organs; 'BALLY ON' is a dry 141 BPM punch that lands and leaves in 2:24. Between those two poles unfolds a selection that treats 140 as contested territory rather than a closed genre.
Tempo is the second contrast, and it's a mirage. On paper the range runs from 68 to 148 BPM, yet ten cuts sit notated between 68 and 73: Alix Perez's 'Last Rites' or Kryptic Minds' 'The Talisman' pulse exactly like the 140s around them, just written half-time.
