Some compilations rest on two or three tracks, and 'Kindisch Radio' makes no secret of which ones. The first is the opener: 'Pachamama' by YokoO and Retza, eight and a half minutes of deep house in D-flat minor that takes its time unfolding at 121 BPM. It sets the tone for everything that follows: patient, melodic, in no hurry to reach a climax it doesn't need.
'Where The Birds Speak', the curator's calling card
Urmet K does more than sign off on the selection — he shows up three times. With Juan Yarin on 'Where The Birds Speak', sitting at the set's tempo ceiling (122 BPM) and the best summary of his language; reworking Israel Vich's 'Closure' into afro house; and closing the program with the dub of 'Mantra Chants'. The Estonian, London-based for some fifteen years, has built an organic, percussive sound that has earned support from the likes of Black Coffee, Lee Burridge and Hernan Cattaneo, and here he acts as the connecting thread without hogging the spotlight.
The third key piece arrives late in the running order: 'Designer Eggs im Garten' by Stavroz. The Belgian quartet — formed in East Flanders and seasoned on stages like Coachella — has spent years folding acoustic instrumentation into electronic music, and their cut is the record's shortest (5:31) yet its most distinctive: human-touch electronica in D minor that breaks the set's texture exactly when it needed breaking.
A separate mention for Modd's 'Laveel': nearly nine minutes of slow-building deep house, the longest piece on the program. The rest of the lot — Gab Rhome, Less Hate, Tamer Malki, the Fulltone remix — holds an impressively narrow 120-122 BPM band that turns this radio show into one continuous listen. It makes sense: Kindisch was born in 2006 as Get Physical's sister label, founded by Booka Shade, DJ T. and M.A.N.D.Y. as an outlet for the catalogue's more experimental side, and this installment is exactly that — the B-side turned into a radio program.
