Protagonist Organic Monthly Cuts: March '26 — Deep Techno at Its Most Considered
Protagonist Recordings continues its monthly series with the March 2026 instalment, a four-track VA that distils everything the label stands for: organic techno, dense-textured deep house and introspective progressive music built for both the dancefloor and the listening room. Four producers, four distinct voices, one unifying thread — depth over instant gratification.
The release opens with Leads Me, a collaboration between Aleh Team and SAINT CODE. Running at 125 BPM, the track delivers a restrained groove where pulsing basslines converse with wide-stereo atmospheric pads. The production is clean and well-balanced in the mid-range, making it equally effective as a floor tool and a headphone track.
Rich Towers contributes Astral, seven minutes at 121 BPM that fully earn their title. The producer layers analogue synthesis with admirable patience, allowing textures to evolve organically without forcing a climax. It is the most ambient moment on the EP, a sidereal journey that calls to mind the aesthetic of labels like Kompakt or Deepalma.
The Monojoke and Amaare collaboration delivers Quantized, arguably the most technically ambitious track here. At 122 BPM and stretching across seven and a half minutes, the piece uses quantisation itself as an aesthetic concept — rhythms that seem to breathe outside the grid before snapping back into place with surgical precision. The mid-frequency interference and restrained percussion signal two producers with a very clear artistic vision.
Florian Gasperini closes with Opuliss, the longest cut at over eight minutes and 124 BPM. The Italian producer's maturity is evident in every decision: the slow harmonic progression, long-tail reverb treatments and a melodic layer that surfaces quietly in the second half make this the perfect closing statement for the compilation.
