From Another Star returns with the third instalment of its Declassified series, a compilation that serves as a sonic map of the darkest and most contemplative territories of contemporary techno. Ten artists, ten distinct visions, one single purpose: to declassify frequencies that the mainstream prefers to leave buried.
The compilation opens with Allen's Exit Cycle, a 2:36-minute ambient interlude at 84 BPM that sets the record's dreamlike tone. Decoder follows with Griis, the release's most floor-ready cut in Ab Major at 136 BPM — dense, hypnotic, and reminiscent of Warp's darker catalogue moments. Ma Haiping raises the tension with Last Dawn at 138 BPM in B Minor, a deep techno exercise built on layers of accumulated pressure.
The compilation becomes truly singular in its mid- and low-tempo pieces. EMZOO delivers Space Bubbles at 67 BPM in G Minor, reimagining techno as an almost static, heavy and immersive experience. Son Of Magnus contributes the shortest interlude with Unknown Tape — barely 2:01 minutes — an experimental fragment that operates as a sonic palimpsest. Riesenfeld's Drift at 135 BPM in Db Minor stands as perhaps the most cinematic cut in the set.
