VA – The Call Of Goa, Vol.5 (2026): Timewarp unfolds its most ambitious psychedelic map yet
With its fifth instalment, Timewarp's The Call Of Goa series returns broader and more daring than ever. Twenty tracks, over two and a half hours of music, and a BPM range spanning from the 86 of Shadow Pulse (Processor & Ray Of Light) to the 150 of Goadinine 6 (Pillars Of Creation) reveal a curatorial vision that stretches well beyond textbook Goa trance. Here, high-velocity psychedelic trance coexists with ambient textures, progressive undercurrents and classic Goa structures, tracing a lineage that runs from the beaches of Anjuna to midnight festival main stages.
The compilation opens with We Live In Your Heart by Infinite Cycle (120 BPM, D Major), a hypnotic nine-minute overture that sets the ceremonial tone for the entire release. It is followed by the JIS 2025 Remix of Nova Fractal's Reality of Life, where 127 BPM in A Major stack layers of analogue synthesis with the urgency characteristic of the Israeli scene. The early surprise comes from Subspace Disturbance by Subspace Resonator (111 BPM, C Major): a slow-build exercise in sonic architecture that proves impact does not always require speed.
The album's midsection raises the temperature considerably. Sneaking Around by Demolition Man & Everything Turns (147 BPM, F# Minor) and Cheesy Melones by Tranquility Base Project & Xanda (147 BPM, D Major) are the most floor-focused cuts, with razor-sharp basslines and arpeggiated leads that recall the finest nineties Goa trance refracted through contemporary production values.
Further highlights include Spectre by Ray Of Light (145 BPM, A Major, nearly nine minutes long), the Procyon 2025 Remix by Trinodia — a nod to scene veterans — and the emotionally resonant closer The Storm Within by JoshAliTheShoq & Beckmantra (97 BPM, G Major), a near-cinematic piece that serves as a perfect epilogue to the journey.
Standout Tracks
- We Live In Your Heart – Infinite Cycle (120 BPM / D Major): ritual opener with remarkable melodic depth.
- Sneaking Around – Demolition Man, Everything Turns (147 BPM / F# Minor): raw peak-time energy at its sharpest.
- Spectre – Ray Of Light (145 BPM / A Major): the compilation's most complete track — narrative and devastating in equal measure.
- Procyon (2025 Remix) – Trinodia (144 BPM / B♭ Major): a reinterpretation that honours legacy without surrendering to nostalgia.
- The Storm Within – JoshAliTheShoq, Beckmantra (97 BPM / G Major): an atmospheric closer of remarkable emotional altitude.
The Call Of Goa, Vol.5 stands as a state-of-the-genre document for psy-trance in 2026: diverse, technically rigorous, and faithful to the travelling spirituality that has always defined the form. Timewarp remains one of the scene's essential custodian labels.
