'The Tempo' sits last for a reason: it is the only extended mix in the pack, signed by Max Freegrant and Slow Fish, the pairing behind full albums like 'Dreamcatcher' and 'Afterglow' on Freegrant Music, the parent label of this series. Freegrant, a Ukrainian producer with releases on Toolroom, Armada and Black Hole according to his Beatport profile, keeps the closing slot for himself: 123 BPM in C major, classically drawn progressive house after nine rising names. The FG Top 10 series has been running month after month since at least 2021, and that architecture — showcase first, house signature last — repeats here without apology.
The ceiling and the crack
If the closer is protocol, the peak comes earlier. 'Take My Heart' by Aedan Terra is the fastest cut of the selection: 128 BPM while everything else moves between 121 and 126, in D minor with almost seven minutes to work with. On paper it is the compilation's peak-time moment, the only track that breaks the tempo ceiling. At the opposite end breathes 'Will This Pain Ever End' by Marven, the tracklist's only venture into organic house: A minor, 123 BPM and a title that hides nothing of its emotional weight. It is the melancholic crack in a block dominated by melodic and progressive material.
That leaves 'Wine with Rose' by Abity and Ignacio Berardi, the only collaboration outside the closer and also the longest cut (6:58). In G major at 123 BPM it holds the penultimate slot as a bridge into 'The Tempo', and the fact that the selection trusts its two final positions to the only four-handed tracks suggests curation that thinks in pairs. Between these four cuts the whole map of the series emerges: a nursery for new producers, one well-placed stylistic detour, and the label owner signing on the way out.
