Three of a Kind #39

Eight minutes flat for 'El Cebu', another eight for 'Ghera': the two longest cuts on this installment share runtime but not temperament. The former, by Agustin Gatti, settles into D major at 120 BPM and opens the record on its brighter side; the latter, from 3Kilo, pushes to 122 and sinks into G minor. Between those two poles sits much of the character of this chapter in the 3rd Avenue series — Madloch's imprint within Belgium's Sound Avenue family — which has kept the same formula for years: three producers, two originals apiece.

Gatti's contribution doesn't end with 'El Cebu'. His pair of cuts works like two sides of the same coin: 'Paso De Los Vientos' keeps the tonal center — D — but flips to the minor mode and trims nearly a minute off the runtime (6:56, the shortest cut of the set). Same tempo, same root, opposite mood. That reads as a writing decision, not a coincidence.

'Ghera' and 'Dhegoma', the mirror reversed

3Kilo makes the opposite move: 'Ghera' states G minor and 'Dhegoma' answers in G major, six seconds apart in length (8:00 versus 7:54) and locked to the same 122 pulse. That two of the three producers build major/minor mirror pairs over a single tonic turns each half of the EP into grateful mixing material: you can cross from one cut to its twin without shifting the harmonic axis.

The close belongs to Tam Mi. 'Dialog With Youself' (7:40, G minor, 121 BPM) shares its key with 'Ghera', but the titles — 'My Fears' too, in F major — look inward where Gatti's evoked landscape and wind. The series, whose #37 edition gathered producers from Argentina and Mexico, is now 39 chapters deep into betting on discovery over established names. This one isn't chasing a big gesture; it's chasing symmetry — and it ends, quite literally, in a conversation with itself.
