It was the campaign's sixth single, and not by accident: it is the boldest bet on a record that exists precisely to force crossings. The sequel to the 2020 collaborative mini-album doubles the format to fourteen cuts and lands just as This Never Happened, Lane 8's own label and event series, turns ten with anniversary dates in London and Colorado.
The second axis is 'World Is Mine', with Kasbo and BJOERN, the album's fifth advance single and the only title that appears twice, in deliberately inverted order: first the 'Reprise', 1:42 of ambient at 107 BPM planting the echo before the song, and only then the full version, a luminous F major at 125. That small sequencing trick says more about Lane 8's craft as an album storyteller than any press note could.
Then there is 'Sol', alongside Cornelius SA and Alan Green: 154 BPM on a record that mostly breathes between 122 and 127. Six and a half minutes in E major that crack the calm of the final stretch and hold the set's only genuine surge of urgency. That the anomaly arrives at track twelve, not up front, confirms that tempo works here as narrative rather than template.
The close belongs to 'Disappear', extending the well-established partnership with Sultan + Shepard and bringing in sadHAPPY to see the record out in D-flat major, with no forced grandeur. Between those four poles — the outside voice, the ambient mirror, the surge and the farewell — sits an album that treats collaboration less as a sum of names and more as a way of pulling Lane 8 out of his own center.
