Most of this selection lives between 125 and 128 BPM, yet its architecture is best read through the two moments it abandons that pulse. The opening is a compact block: Lauer's 'Embalmed', Roman Flügel's 'Secret Service' and Red Axes' 'Everywhere', three cuts locked at 128 that add up to over twenty minutes of foundation. Flügel's track arrives via Cocoon's 25th-anniversary compilation, and the Red Axes cut — the longest here at 8:37 — comes from the Tel Aviv duo's recent 'fabric presents' mix: a sign this selection draws on material with a life of its own.
After the early 131 peak of M-High's 'Thief Of Joy', the record eases off: 'Tornasol' drops to 119 and, above all, Eden Burns' remix of TEED's 'Always With Me' opens a near-eight-minute valley at 95 BPM just as the sequence needed to breathe. From there it rebuilds in layers: a three-track plateau at 126 — Julio Victoria, Andrew Meller and Phunkadelica's 'Stars Align' with Dina Summer — restores traction without snapping straight back to cruising tempo.
The second half alternates firm 128s ('Confident', Kozlow's 3:18 flash) with dips into the 116-123 range that keep monotony at bay. Then comes the biggest anomaly: Sublee's 'Loneliness', eight minutes at 65 BPM in B major, a tempo crater placed second to last. Read as a sequence, it is a deliberate reset before 'Beat The Disco Ball' closes at 131, the record's ceiling, shared with M-High.
For the booth, the reading is simple: the 126-128 block can be shuffled almost at will, but TEED and Sublee are not transitions — they are acts. Programme them as pivots, one to split the set in two and one as a reset before the final push, and half the session writes itself; try to beatmatch them and it will not.
