Ninety BPM separate this selection's floor from its ceiling: from the 65 of Ben Sterling and Omar+'s 'Out Of My Mind' to the 155 of 'Freak (Tricky Disco)'. Between those extremes the material practically sorts itself into four clean blocks, and reading them right means half a set already solved.
The valley sits at 116-120: 'Right From The Start', EC Twins' 'I Want To Know What Love Is' and Sam Feldt's 'Into The Stars' share that friendly first-hour range. From there you climb into the big central massif, 126-132, home to more than half the selection: MK's 'Zone' with Poppy Baskcomb at 128, David Guetta's 'Upside Down', Chloé Caillet's 'Come Back 2 Me' at 132. That block also holds the two tracks with the most story behind them: 'Release The Pressure' pairs Calvin Harris with Kasabian — produced entirely by Harris from an idea born while Serge Pizzorno was experimenting with dance music — and 'The One' is Planningtorock's rework, sung with Romy of The xx, of their own 2011 track, released on Human Level. Two opposite ways of crossing pop and club floor inside the same tempo range.
The third block, 134-140, is the sprint: Icarus' 'Falling', James Hype's 'Seratonin' at 138 and DJ Dave's 'one4u' at 140 as a sensible peak-time ceiling. That leaves the exotic 150-155 fringe — Diplo and Heidi Klum's 'Red Eye', BIIANCO's 'scream if u want me' — better used as a one-off detonator than as a destination.
The two cuts at 65-67 BPM ('Out Of My Mind', 'Who Knew') break nothing: they are breathing room, half-tempo resets before the next climb. Sequenced that way — valley, massif, sprint, detonator, plus a pause wherever the floor asks for one — the lot stops being a pile of new releases and becomes a complete energy arc.
