Nine and a half minutes. On a volume where almost everything wraps up around the five-minute mark, Lucas Moinet's 'The Other Side (Deeper Mix)' takes 9:24 to unfold at 126 BPM in E minor, and it sets the ceiling for this first Dance Company installment. Moinet is no random name on the bill: a Paris producer, long-time resident at club Djoon and a regular at the jazz-house crossroads with projects like Groove Boys Project, he signs the most patient piece of the lot here — deep house that lets itself breathe where others tighten up.
The counterpoint is 'Formula 72' by Mario Arici and Federico Baracco: the only cut that steps out of deep house into nu disco, and also the shortest alongside the opener (4:44 against the 4:27 of 'Wired To The Drum'). At 122 BPM in E major — the same root as Moinet's Deeper Mix, flipped to major — it works as the record's bright window: the moment the compilation stops staring at the floor and smiles.
Samann's House
Between those two extremes, the rest of the cast moves through a narrow 126-130 BPM corridor that speaks well of the curation at Traxx Underground, the label Italian DJ and producer Samann runs alongside his other imprint, Quality Vibe Records. Bress Underground's 'All Night' marks the pulse peak (130, B minor) and Ciro Blazevic's 'Uh!', at 7:16, is the other track that dares to go long. But the volume makes more sense through its two anomalies than through its average: a jazz-schooled Parisian stretching time and a disco-minded duo trimming it. If Dance Company is meant to become a series, that balance of patience and spark is the formula worth keeping.
