Among the sixteen names on 'Bass House Nation Vol. 6', one arrives with a steel-plated résumé: Avi Sic. The Chicago DJ — a full-time professional since 2008, playing some three hundred shows a year, with eight seasons as the Chicago Bulls' official concourse DJ — teams up with Costel Van Dein on 'Feel Alive', a 126 BPM cut in D minor that lands mid-album needing no introduction. Her track record runs through labels like Revealed and Spinnin' and through 'Late Checkout', a radio show syndicated on more than sixty stations; that a name like hers shows up here says plenty about the series' ambitions.
The other recognizable veteran closes the record: Marc Mosca, a Düsseldorf producer with an ISR Ibiza residency and releases on Tiger Records, saves 'Sex Pills' for last: a generous five minutes in F major that sounds more like a send-off than filler.
The rest is a talent nursery. Huggo opens with 'Paranoid', the longest cut of the batch (6:01) and the only one that takes its time to breathe; Charlie Roennez breaks the tempo uniformity with 'One More Time' at 134 BPM, well above the album's average; and 'All Night' squeezes four signatures — Chris Odd, Bono Badja, CABOO and Sebastian Yung — into just over four minutes, a snapshot of how the bass house engine room works these days: as a team. Whispa, Shockz and Dessic pull the same move on 'Who Am I', the shortest cut and the darkest in key (E-flat minor).
RH2 has been feeding this circuit for years — its Beatport catalogue runs into the thousands of tracks, with series like 'All About: Bass House' — and this installment confirms the method: a couple of anchors with mileage and a dozen rising producers around them. Nothing clashes; almost everything pushes in the same direction, between 125 and 128 BPM, aimed at the dancefloor rather than the algorithm.
