On paper, the cast of 'Cartel Moods Vol. 2' arrives split into two camps, and that's not our reading: Mood Child's own release notes separate the house regulars — Andino, Malikk and Matias Di Genaro, all returning to the label — from a batch of first-timers that includes TWENTY SIX, Amal Nemer, Zero Point (ITA), Sergio Blema, POLSKI and the duo Erick Cz & Dimas Perera. This is the second installment of a series the label frames as a tribute to the colour and pulse of Latin and Spanish musical culture, filed as MC059.
The regulars set the pace
Malikk is the most travelled name in the veteran block: a French producer born in 1982 whose career runs through labels like Loulou Records and Bunny Tiger, plus the 2013 Kolombo collaboration 'Reprezent!' on Warung Recordings, as his Beatport profile documents. Here he distills that pedigree into 'Vamos a Bailar', a no-nonsense 5:39 at 130 BPM. Matias Di Genaro, by contrast, claims the room nobody else asks for: 'Culpable' is the longest cut on the volume (7:33) and one of only two that drop to 128, alongside newcomer Zero Point (ITA)'s 'Vibra El Bass'. Andino rounds out the returning trio with 'Rocket Launcher', one of just two major-key excursions on the whole record.
Among the newcomers, the label reserves the internationally respected tag for TWENTY SIX and Amal Nemer, and hands them the closing slot too: 'Besame Lento', 6:39 in D major that eases the tension without letting go of the 130 BPM grip. At the other end, Sergio Blema and POLSKI open fire with 'Narco', while Erick Cz and Dimas Perera dispatch the shortest cut of the lot in '2C' (4:57).
What gives it away is the frame: seven tracks boxed between 128 and 130 BPM, an overwhelming majority of minor keys, and nothing that steps outside tech house. The cast may be half squad and half signings, but the house sets the style — and in this second round, nobody strays from the script.
