SPEEDTEST RAVE: the Brazilian label rewriting club music rules
Behind the Label: SPEEDTEST RAVE, curated by Chediak, is a 28-track compilation that reads as a sonic manifesto for one of Latin America's most unclassifiable electronic imprints. Rather than chasing genre coherence, SPEEDTEST RAVE weaponises fragmentation as an aesthetic: Brazilian funk, UK garage, breaks, dubstep, drum & bass, and electronica coexist in a sequence that mirrors the logic of Brazil's peripheral club culture and underground baile scene.
The bulk of the collection is anchored in Brazilian funk, with over a dozen cuts ranging between 86 and 135 BPM. Tracks like FAZ OS VACILAO CHORAR (Chediak & SPEEDTEST, 131 BPM, Ab minor) and TAMO INVADINDO (Tui, Clementaum & SPEEDTEST, 132 BPM) distil that tension between percussive aggression and melodic populism that defines the genre in its most club-oriented form. MALVADAO VOLT MIX by Taleko & SPEEDTEST at 133 BPM in E minor is arguably the most physically demanding cut on the entire compilation.
The range of registers is striking. BRASILEIRINHA by Pep Starling & SPEEDTEST (70 BPM, A minor) takes UK garage to an almost hallucinatory tempo, while FARP (Crosstalk Remix) by Taleko & SPEEDTEST delivers drum & bass through a distinctly contemporary production lens. Noite Estonteante (Cumbia Mix) by Chediak, YMA and Jadsa at 111 BPM in D minor stands as the project's most expansive moment: four minutes of electronic cumbia that reveal the label's geographic and emotional reach.
Special mention goes to me enforca (feat. Rainha da Sul) by Chediak, Crosstalk and Rainha da Sul: at 135 BPM in D major, this Breaks / UK Bass cut is the most cinematic and tense selection in the package. Jobstep with MC Xangai at 140 BPM closes the dubstep arc with a force that echoes the golden days of Bristol bass culture.

A compilation that asks no permission. SPEEDTEST RAVE arrives on Beatport with a vision that treats the club as a space for cultural mixing, not genre purity. Essential listening for anyone tracking what's coming out of Brazil.
