Twenty-five cuts and no name repeated except Okee: before you play a single track, the cast already sketches what Nothing But is about. On Beatport the label operates as a factory of volume-numbered series covering half the electronic spectrum — 'House of Rhythm' and 'That Big Room Sound' run on their own counters — and this D&B Grooves line, now at its thirteenth instalment, applies the same method: recruit in bulk and let the genre define itself by accumulation.
So what does this volume say about the label's drum & bass line? That it reads the genre as wide territory. Twenty of the twenty-five cuts roll in the 86-89 BPM band — the usual half-time reading of the D&B pulse — but the edges are elastic: Okee signs the longest cut of the batch, 'Deep Rivers', nearly ten minutes at 115 BPM, then flips into 'Ninroot Fabolous' at 165. Red Alfa's 'Elysium' (161) and Dunstan DMT's take on AVIO7's 'Weightless' (154) complete the full-tempo flank, while Circle Red's 'Skyline' sits in a no man's land at 109 BPM.
The most telling name on the roster is Manuel Le Saux. The Italian has spent years as a reference in uplifting trance, running his own label — Extrema Global Music — and a radio show, Extrema, that hit episode 900 in 2025. Finding him with 'Zodiac' at 87 BPM on a drum & bass compilation portrays the label better than any press note: open doors, zero genre rigidity. Around him sit malaventura's lowercase wink ('cierra la puerta'), CRUNCHY CA$HEW's typographic swagger ('PON DI BLOCK') and even an archive rescue, the 'Exclusive 2022 Mix' of Illform's 'Soundbath Ritual'. Nothing But's identity is not a recognisable sound but the habit of collecting everything; Vol. 13 is its D&B line in its purest state: wide, crowded and unranked.
