That a selection tagged raw, deep and hypnotic trance starts blooming in the abyss and closes literally in the light hardly feels accidental: contrast is the language Anastasia Zems chose for this chart.
68 or 164: the edges tell the story
The bulk of the lot breathes between 135 and 146 BPM, but the extremes pull the thread. Bliss Inc's 'Untitled 131' shoots up to 164 and also claims the longest cut (8:07), while Blu:sh's 'Magnetized Your Soul' wraps up in 4:41, the shortest of the twenty-two. On the opposite shore, Pire Meilleur's 'Access Purple' reads 71 BPM and Zems' own remix of Circle Audio's 'Slaider' drops to 68: figures that sit at exactly half the central block —68 is precisely half of 136— and work as half-pulse breathers inside a journey that never lets go of its drive.
The second contrast is one of temperature. For all the raw branding, major keys rule here: fourteen against eight minors, with a stretch that chains D major three times across 'Nocturnal Synergy', 'Untitled 131' and 'Magnetized Your Soul'. And a single rhythmic intruder: Nice Girl's 'Cool Dudes In Hot Water', the only cut tagged peak-time techno in a sea of hypnotic trance.
The curator plays opposites with herself too: she signs 'Human Nature' solo, shares 'She Tried' with Hard Fist —a label she has already released on, per her RA profile— and reappears as a remixer in the final stretch. Lisbon-based, with Lux Frágil as her home club and a declared blend of trance, progressive and experimental electronica, Zems has gigs registered since 2018 across Lisbon, Paris, Saint Petersburg and Lyon. This chart sounds exactly like that: someone who reads the floor as tension between poles, not a straight line.
