Ten tracks with the logic of a set: this spring selection from Ingrained Instincts — the Greek duo of Tilemachos Vlachos and Dafy Deliangelos, active under that name since 2014 and fond of building their own modular system — plays like a night narrated from start to finish. It opens with 'Sentient Others', their collaboration with Magik (UK) at 146 BPM: the calmest pulse of the whole journey, a doorway that already sets the tone. 'Uandema', alongside 3LMT, stretches the idea across 8:13 — the longest cut of the lot — before handing over the spotlight; it is also the only detour outside the two labels that hold the selection together, released via Sacred Technology.
From there the duo steps out of the credits for a while and lets their circle speak: '1000 Lifetimes' gathers Burn In Noise, Ajja, Altruism and Undefined Behavior on a single cut; 'Pieces Of Time' pairs Iridian with Magik (UK); and 'Far Out', by GMS and Digital Hippie, pushes up to 149 BPM, the journey's first energy peak. Jumpstreet's remix of 'Fungus' closes that first arc, dominated almost entirely by Nano Records.
Turning towards Timecode/Sangoma
The last four cuts change homes, and it is no coincidence: Ingrained Instincts are signed to Sangoma, founded in 2011 by Emiel and Daksinamurti and a sublabel of Timecode, one of South Africa's first psytrance labels, born in 2002 at the hands of Artifakt, Phyx and Shift. 'Aurora Lands' and 'Ritmologica' hold the pace at 147-148 BPM with back-to-back major keys, and 'E Allora', reworked by Endeavour, brings the duo back into the credits among five names. The closer says it all: 'I Sense In You', by Daksinamurti himself alongside Drip Drop, fires the tempo up to 152 BPM, the highest of the selection. Instead of a soft landing, the journey ends accelerating: an open finale, like leaving the floor still burning.
