It's not every day a minimal selection opens in A major twice in a row: PARAMIDA's 'Sailor Moon House' and Ion Ludwig's 'Starlab Translate' share the key, and that double start marks the brightest spot on the whole map. PARAMIDA's cut, which opened the Moonrise VII EP on Love On The Rocks and is openly inspired by the cult 90s anime of the same name, sets a dreamy tone; Demuja caps the run in B major with 'Stop Asking Me', the shortest cut here at 4:16. Three majors in a row: a false sense of security.
Because from there the ground sinks. Fifteen of the twenty-four keys are minor, and the longest runtimes line up with the darkest zones: 'Praise', in Baby Ford's rework, stretches a D minor across 9:25 — the longest trip on the record — while 'Orin', Ricardo Villalobos' variation on goat (JP), inhabits a 9:07 C minor at just 124 BPM. And it's no ordinary remix: the source material was composed for a dance piece by choreographer Cindy van Acker and released by Parisian label Latency, which explains why it breathes more like a stage work than a tool.
The E-flat minor valley
If there's an emotional epicentre, it sits between E-flat minor and D minor, the two keys that appear three times each. Will Hofbauer, Mateo Dufour and Vithz dig the first; and from Libe's 'Calm Before the Storm' to George Campean's 'XO' — A-flat minor, 9:11, almost a farewell — nine minor-key cuts run back to back without a single major-key break.
And then the close: DAETOR's 'No Sugar' resolves into B-flat major. After all that valley, the selection surfaces right at the end. As an emotional landscape this is not the functional flatland the deep tech tag suggests: it's a long, deliberate descent with light at both ends, and that architecture — major, valley, major — is what carries the full listen.
