'My Own Boss' carries the signature of Demarkus Lewis, and that name alone sets the pecking order here. The Dallas mainstay — DJing since 1990, producing since 2000 — has more than 1,500 published tracks on labels like Nervous, King Street and Large Music, and in 2014 he ranked as Traxsource's number one jackin house artist. A veteran of that calibre dropping a sober 124 BPM cut in A minor gives a twenty-five-track compilation exactly the credibility anchor it needs.
The other heavyweight is HP Vince: Dutch, active since the nineties — he recorded as P.I.M.P. alongside JAMEZ and as Dubbing Double with Laidback Luke — founder of the Nite Tunes label in 2014, and fully committed to funky disco house since 2017. His 'Pump It All Night' is among the most urgent cuts of the batch: 128 BPM in C major, six and a half minutes aimed at the top stretch of the night.
Around them, the series confirms its roster of regulars.
