Before you hear a single note, that number sketches the mood: house for the fading hours, more introspective than euphoric, where the eight major-key passages work like clearings in a forest. The opener sets the tone: Rick Marshall's 'Free', in C minor at 124 BPM, barely three minutes that leave the melancholy in place from the first bar.
G minor is the volume's gravitational centre: five pieces orbit that key, and it hardly seems accidental that the last two —Max Palmer's 'OssessionE' and Melchior Sultana's 'No Fear', both at 125 BPM— share it. The close belongs to the Maltese producer Sultana, a deep house name with his own imprint, Profound Sound, and one of the most seasoned signatures here: his final 6:12 feel like resolution rather than a routine fade. D minor follows in weight with four appearances, from the Rubber People remix of 'Stop Me This Time' to Jamie Walker's 'Golden'.
The clearing at 80 beats
Right at the halfway mark the map breaks: DJ DLG's 'Midnight Bells' drops to 80 BPM and settles into A major for three minutes. On a landscape that otherwise moves between 123 and 134, that mid-route valley is the most expressive decision in the selection, a luminous breather before Chris Chatterje's 'Sweet Like' pushes the speed ceiling to 134 in F minor.
Durations tell their own emotional story. The short extreme is Floris Dice's 'Hola', 2:34 in E-flat minor, a fleeting sketch; the long one, Grema's 'Be a Szervezetbe', nearly nine minutes resolved in C major, the most open key of all. That the most ambitious piece is also the brightest harmonically sums up the whole landscape: sustained shade with carefully placed exits into the light, right where the ear asks for them.
