The last name on the tracklist is the one that explains everything else: Doc Brown, the label's founder, closes with 'We Like To Party' (129 bpm in G minor) instead of opening the compilation with his own signature. As Music is 4 Lovers reported, the Miami producer launched Unlearn:Records in 2020 around one specific idea: actually investing in the careers of the artists who sign, not the other way around. Unlearn:Ibiza 2026 — a series that already ran 2023 and 2024 editions mixing label regulars with newcomers — is that philosophy laid out across seven tech house cuts.
The name with the most mileage outside the house is Redux Saints, the project of LA's Jason Trevor Miller: the first US graduate of the Toolroom Academy Masterclass and founder of Deep Tech Los Angeles Records, with releases on Toolroom and CR2 per his RA biography. Here he signs 'Been A Long Time', the fastest cut (130 bpm) and the shortest of the batch: five minutes flat, no fat.
The rest of the cast reads like a statement of intent: names under construction. Three duos carry half the record: El Chino Dreadlion and Eddy Galan open with 'You're Beautiful' at 126 bpm; Chris Clark teams up with Dove & Serpent on 'Keep It Playa'; and Blaze Orange with Toninato turn in 'Malta', the only cut past the six-minute mark (6:22), in E-flat minor. In between, Stephan Barbieri drops the pulse to 125 bpm with 'The Time Is Now', which alongside Not Yurs' 'Keep On Runnin'' forms the only pair of major keys on a record dominated by minors.
The final read is of a label head who knows his trade: Doc Brown doesn't need headliners to build his seasonal compilation; a roster that sounds like a medium-term bet is enough. If Unlearn's plan was to rethink the artist-label relationship, this is what it sounds like in practice.
