DUPLOC, the Belgian 140 and deep dubstep house that Pieter Grauwels turned into a label in 2015 after three years as a platform, marks the milestone without speeches: the tenth entry in its numbered series, ten cuts that ask to be heard front to back. Kyber opens the door with 'Still', four minutes in B minor that set the gloom, and Hebbe immediately stretches 'Area Man' to 5:01, the longest cut on the record and the one that lays down the rules: heavy sub, patience, space.
The first act closes on contrast: Rygby's 'SR71' brightens the landscape from Ab major and Teffa pulls the tension back with 'Run It'. Then, right at the halfway mark, the record splits in two: Substrada's 'Vilis' and Hypho's 'No F's Given' drop to 70 BPM, a halftime valley that works as forced breathing room. The pulse is the same — 70 is exactly half of 140 — but the shift in notation gives the intent away: this stretch walks, it doesn't run. That 'No F's Given' is also the shortest cut (3:05) says plenty about its role: quick hit, clean exit.
Ternion Sound's 'Airlock' reopens the 140 gates in a major key, like decompressing the booth after the vacuum, and the final stretch strings together landmarks: Pharma signs the set's only VIP with 'Dem Move', and 'Lockup' pairs Contra & ColtCuts on the record's sole collaboration. Takjacob gets the last word: 'Hardcore Symphony' returns to Gb minor, the same key where Hebbe planted 'Area Man' near the start. It may be coincidence, but heard in sequence it sounds like a circle closing: 150 releases in, DUPLOC is still telling its story in the key it started with.
